Our centers are located in Arlington, Reston and Annandale. University administration offices, such as the president's office, human resources, payroll and IT, located off-premises on Pender Drive in Fairfax. NOVA's Manassas campus is located next to Manassas Battlefield Park, site of the first major battle of the Civil War. The Woodbridge campus is located in eastern Prince William County and primarily serves county residents.
In the fall of 1965, the university opened its doors with 761 students in a single building at Bailey's Crossroads, under the presidency of Robert L. Washington-area private schools also recruit at NOVA, including American University, Georgetown, Marymount University in Arlington, Trinity Washington University, and George Washington University, and out-of-state schools, such as Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, the University of West Virginia and including the University of Missouri in Kansas City. In addition, NOVA has an ice hockey team that is a member of the American College Hockey Association (ACHA). Northern Virginia Community College is the third largest multi-campus community college in the United States and the largest educational institution in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Loudoun campus is located in Sterling and primarily serves residents of northern Fairfax County and Loudoun County. Its feeding program ensures admission to partner intrastate schools including George Mason University in Fairfax, University of Virginia in Charlottesville, The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Old Dominion University in Norfolk, and Longwood University in Farmville. With 15 buildings, the Annandale campus is the largest in the NOVA system and offers more than 40 programs. The Manassas campus is located in western Prince William County on a 100-acre site adjacent to the Manassas National Battlefield.
NOVA libraries contain more than 250,000 volumes and subscribe to more than 200 databases, many of them purchased through the Virginia Virtual Library, which means NOVA has access to many of the same resources as other Virginia colleges and universities.
